The Winners of the 48th Gdynia Polish Film Festival announced

On September 23, 2023, at the gala in the Musical Theatre in Gdynia, we learned about the winners of this year’s awards at the 48th Gdynia Polish Film Festival. The film “Kos” (dir. Paweł Maślona) received the Golden Lions, while the Silver Lions went to “Imago” (dir. Olga Chajdas). The Platinum Lions, awarded for the overall contribution to creativity, were received by the production designer Allan Starski.

The jury of the 48th Gdynia Polish Film Festival, consisting of:

awarded the following prizes:

THE GRAND PRIZE “GOLDEN LIONS” of the 48th Gdynia Polish Film Festival for the best film KOS goes to director PAWEŁ MAŚLONA and producers LESZEK BODZAK, ANETA HICKINBOTHAM.

THE SILVER LIONS of the 48th Gdynia Polish Film Festival for the film IMAGO go to director OLGA CHAJDAS and producers IZABELA WÓJCIK, VIOLETTA KAMIŃSKA, DARIUSZ JABŁOŃSKI.

THE “GOLDEN CLAW” of the 48th Gdynia Polish Film Festival for the courage in form and content in the category “Different View” for the film TYLE CO NIC goes to director GRZEGORZ DĘBOWSKI and producers EWA JASTRZĘBSKA, JERZY KAPUŚCIŃSKI, JACEK BROMSKI.

The “Platinum Lions”, the award for the overall contribution to creativity, were received by the production designer Allan Starski.

  • MARCIN LENARCZYK for sound in the film SNY PEŁNE DYMU
  • PIOTR KMIECIK for film editing of KOS
  • ANETA BRZOZOWSKA for makeup in the film KOS
  • WERONIKA ORLIŃSKA for costumes in the film DOPPELGÄNGER. SOBOWTÓR
  • KINGA PREIS for supporting female role in the film ŚWIĘTO OGNIA, and ex aequo AGNIESZKA KWIETNIEWSKA for supporting female role in the film TYLE CO NIC
  • TOMASZ SCHUCHARDT for supporting male role in the film DOPPELGÄNGER. SOBOWTÓR, and ex aequo ROBERT WIĘCKIEWICZ for supporting male role in the film KOS
  • LENA GÓRA for the main female role in the film IMAGO
  • ARTUR PACZESNY for the main male role in the film TYLE CO NIC
  • PAULINA PYTLAK for professional acting debut in the film ŚWIĘTO OGNIA

Special award for directors DK WELCHMAN and HUGH WELCHMAN for the unique film form in the movie CHŁOPI.

The Audience Award, determined by the audience’s votes in festival cinemas, goes to directors DK WELCHMAN and HUGH WELCHMAN for the film CHŁOPI.

During the closing gala of the 48th Gdynia Polish Film Festival, the winners of two other film competitions were also announced.

The jury of the Microbudget Film Competition, consisting of:

  • Jan P. Matuszyński – Jury Chairman
  • Kaja Krawczyk-Wnuk
  • Krzysztof Terej

after watching 4 films qualified for the Microbudget Film Competition, unanimously awarded the following prize:

BEST FILM AWARD IN THE MICROBUDGET FILM COMPETITION

KLAUDIUSZ CHROSTOWSKI for directing the film ULTIMA THULE

DISTINCTION

PIOTR BIEDROŃ for directing the film W NICH CAŁA NADZIEJA

The jury of the Short Film Competition, consisting of:

  • Agnieszka Dziedzic – Jury Chairwoman
  • Olga Bołądź
  • Michał Szcześniak

after watching 25 films qualified for the Short Film Competition, awarded the prize:

On September 12-17, 2022, Gdynia will host a great celebration of Polish cinema, the 47th Polish Film Festival. The Festival programme comprises of: two competition sections (Main Competition, Short Film Competition), numerous non-competition sections, as well as accompanying events.
