Gdynia Classica Nova 2025: A Festival of Film Music

Autor: Natalia Spychalska

The 2025 edition of Gdynia Classica Nova Festival will be dedicated to the world of film music. Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Gdynia Polish Film Festival, this year’s programme brings together timeless classics and iconic hits from both cinema and television, performed by leading orchestras, ensembles, and soloists.

In October, audiences are invited to five distinctive concerts, each offering a unique perspective on music inspired by the screen:

  1. Opening Concert – Golden Hits of Polish Cinema and Television (4 October, Polsat Plus Arena Gdynia)
A symphonic celebration of Polish film and TV music with the Polish Baltic Philharmonic Orchestra, Cappella Gedanensis, and guest vocalists.
  2. Ave Cinema – Film Masterpieces for Flute and Organ (10 October, Konsulat Kultury)
Łukasz Długosz and Roman Perucki present an atmospheric evening combining sacred works with cinematic themes.
  3. Film Impression – Music for Two Pianos (11 October, Concert Hall of the State Music School in Gdynia)
Duo Granat & Kreda perform celebrated film and musical scores in new piano arrangements.
  4. Suite after Suite – Film Fantasies for Orchestra and Piano (12 October, Concert Hall of the State Music School in Gdynia)
Hadrian Tabęcki joins the Elbląg Chamber Orchestra in a programme spanning sweeping suites and unforgettable soundtracks.
  5. Film Evergreens – Hits of the Silver Screen (18 October, Concert Hall of the State Music School in Gdynia)
Natalia Walewska, Maja Gadzińska, Maciej Kacprzak, and Orkiestra Amberto bring beloved soundtracks to life, from epic adventures to romantic favourites.

Directed artistically by Krzysztof Dąbrowski, Gdynia Classica Nova is the city’s leading festival promoting classical music. Organised by the City of Gdynia, it stands as the largest event of its kind in the region.
